A self-proclaimed car fanatic, forum user krautastic picked up a 1986 Toyota MR2 after getting hooked on rallycross.
After noticing just how tired the stock engine was, krautastic originally planned on swapping in a turbocharged 4AGE, but that was scrapped after realizing “rebuilding and turboing the 4AGE was about a $2k prospect and the motor might only last 2 more seasons (mid/rear engine cars need really good filtration, especially at the very dusty colorado venues).”
Instead, krautastic decided to swap in a 1MZ-FE V6 engine from an early 2000s Toyota Avalon.
Did this new engine make krautastic’s MR2 a fire-breathing rallycross machine, and how exactly do you fit a V6 into an AW11? You’ll have to read the “1986 MR2 V6 rallycross build… Aw(11) yeah….” build thread over on the Builds and Project Cars forum to find out.
