John Vitamvas’s D Street Prepared BMW 330Ci has been the stuff of legend, scoring SCCA Solo national titles and even landing on the cover of Grassroots Motorsports. Well, he’s been busy working on the follow-up.

When I first experienced the RX-8 back in 2005, my first thought was it was an amazing chassis in search of an engine,” he posted on our site. “I'm a rotary guy from way back, but without a turbo they always fell a bit flat to me. This project is the product of many hours spent traveling across the country competing in SCCA autocrosses with nothing to do but think.”

And, when not behind the wheel, apparently he had time to fabricate. Find more details in the build thread.

They did build an RX eight with an MZR engine. It's called an NC Miata.
