Today marks one of the few times that we’ve replaced an air filter because we needed to, not to get more power. The air filter in the Subaru was well and truly clogged from several rallycrosses and an untold amount of street miles. Where the “need” part comes in is where we went splashing through some puddles this morning and the water + dirt made for a very non-porous filter and the Subaru was having problems revving out properly. As an interim measure, we stopped by our local autozone and picked up a Fram air filter. We’ll be going with something a little more racey later.
A side benefit is that our Subaru with a fresh filter and the manaul transmission is actually very quick off the line.
