The Civic Si’s OEM pads were fine for autocross use, but they don’t stand a chance of holding up to more than a few laps of track use, and we’re not really eager to try out our Kirk cage’s crash resistance. We’ve been running Cobalt Friction pads on one of our quasi-project cars (2001 Integra Type R), and decided to give their track pads a try. The pads install easily, with OEM fit, and they’re nothing if not blue. Andie Lin at Cobalt suggested their Spec-VR pads up front and GTS pads for the rear, so we’re going to give that combination a try. Of course, we’re far more interested in how they perform, and we’ll be able to report on them once the car has hit the track.
