1970 Subaru 360 Dune Buggy

Quasi approved factory modded. Quasi because Malcolm Bricklin who was one of the partners who started Subaru of America by importing these early Subarus. When they were brought to the states in 1968 sales were less than good. By 1970 Malcolm was getting creative on how to sell these. So inspired by the Fiat Jolly he shipped 24-30 of these unsold 360’s to a coach builder in California to remove the roofs and make a fiberglass closure capping off the body. Times were tough so Malcolm left the coach builder with the finished cars. As the story goes they were sold or donated to Brea High school for either drivers ed or auto shop. Two years later they were sold at auction. I found this one in Winchester VA. 99% complete. Needs engine freshened up axle seals brakes and some paint on floor boards. Outside of that she’s cherry.
