1982 Chevrolet Malibu Classic

My 5th Malibu project. Was suppost to stay “stock”. Yeah…that did not happen, now its 267v8 swapped with a turbo. Got her with 54k on it. Its been resprayed by the previous owner, but they didn’t fix any of the dings. Originally a 229v6/th350c/2.41 car. I was going to pursue v6 performance as this was my first v6 Malibu. I built custom headers for it along with custom duals with an X-pipe. Had a spare 7.5 rear built with fresh 3.73 gears, Detroit TruTrac LSD, TrickFlow cover & aluminum Buick drums. A freshened 200r4 went in as well. Decided to pull the motor to prepare for boost. Got a deal on a 267v8 out of a wagon. Slid an Edelbrock performer cam, springs, & intake on it. Modified some random sbc shorty headers to fit my existing exhaust. Got a ebay to4e turbo for free. Decided to boost the 267 and see what happens. After a progression of trial and error over the past 2 months, she is now currently at 11psi. Have a too loose torque converter, but she flys. With a stock torque converter & running out of fuel, dyno’d at 252/316 backing out at 4000rpm. Stock was rated 115hp/205tq.

Sweet ride. My first car was a hand me down 1980 malibu classic wagon in 1988. it had the craptastic 267 V8 and auto 3 speed trans. My dad bought it new in 1980. We had plans to swap a 350 small block with a supercharger into it until I ran it into a pickup truck on my way to school two weeks after I got my license. bent the frame and it was never the same. It was a woody and had bodycolor rallye wheels. I do not miss that car. much.
