My OEM Bilsteins had seen much better days so I decided to upgrade on the cheap to a set of used, but revalved Koni Sports. Here’s the lessons I learned:
• Have your spring compressor in hand before starting (time lost: 2 hours)
• Have the correct spring perches in hand before starting (time lost: 2.5 hours)
• Put the springs on right-side up (time lost: 30 minutes)
• Rotate and align the upper mounts with the lower shock mounts before releasing spring compression (time lost: 1 hour)
On the plus side, the shocks plus the Fat Cat Motorsports bumpstops work BRILLIANTLY on the autocross course! Who cares if the job wasn’t done until after midnight…and the autocross was the next day…over an hour away…
