I-80 iced over on March 24th on my way back from Dallas. Driving slow wasn’t enough; my lightweight car and 200 TW summer tires lost all traction and I “gently” slid into the wire barriers. The impact evidently compromised the battery, which caught fire when I tried restarting the engine. My F&C experience helped me swiftly empty the trunk of flammables and calmly inform 911 of my car’s location. Ten minutes later, a state trooper had the fire out.
