I am needing a new driveshaft for my Locost. I can buy the yoke and the drive flange I need to match my tranny and rear end. Both of those take 1310 universals.
Does anyone know of a factory aluminum shaft with those universals. Custom shafts are high and I am trying to save a few. Thanks
Check 98-99ish crown vic police interceptor. I forget which yoke they use, but they take a 2005 avalanche 1500 rear universal joint to adapt to gm yokes, so if you look the specs up on that joint and see which side is 13xx, you'll have the answer.
Best I can tell it would be 1330.
In reply to thewelder :
1330-1310 conversion u-joint should be cheap because they're super common.

I think there are a lot of cheap conversion u-joints between ford sizes (the 1310, 1330, and 1350) and even between ford/gm/etc. Because swapping axles on 4x4s and drag cars is super common. I also think many imports use a version of either the ford or GM u joints - like nissan uses ford for example. What I'm trying to say is that once you find a driveshaft I don't think finding a conversion u-joint will be too hard.
If you're looking for driveshafts of a certain length, check this tip:

oh ps depending on what length you need, I think the nissan 350z uses a carbon fiber driveshaft stock and uses the either the 1330 or 1310 u joints. RX8 might have a carbon driveshaft too.

Mid nineties chevy trucks had a big aluminum driveshaft (and should be nearly free) but I think 1350 universal joints, but they do make cross joints which adapt.
