Are we done talking trash already? How about side action?
If you are bringing a car with 4 cylinders or around 2 liters then let's make this interesting... anyone?
How about 4 cylinders and less than 1/3rd of that? You don't have a chance

FTFY
I wouldn't have an issue betting on my 1.8 swap versus your 5.7 swap, but I would have an issue with taking your money... if you really, really want to we can make a wager
In reply to tb (minimally supportive) :
We both know he won't have a car anytime soon so your money is safe.
The thing about roughly 2 liter and 4 cylinders making enough power to be interesting in a straight line is that the transmissions attached to them tend to puke their guts out all over the track.
In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
I know that I don't have a chance against that contraption of yours, but my idea was to race against and actual car. Frankly, I don't think that thing qualifies.
It is very cool as some kind of Frankenstein freak show experiment, but you need some major mental gymnastics for that thing to qualify as a car.

I'll have you know that I've seen tb's "car" and I think we're starting from the same point.

I'll put a Grant down on overall between you and I at the 2021 Challenge.

Maybe. It hasn't happened to me yet and I have a bit of experience in the area.
Regardless, I'm not afraid of breakage. Sometimes it happens, just part of racing... jusy gotta take some risks if you want the rewards.

And apparently the Ford guys call it a 5.8. I guess they just want to be different.

I've already bolted in the drivetrain so that is at least an start! I've never started so far in advance so I don't have to rush, but I am already making progress...
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
Mr. Grant it is, then
And my apologies, I did know that they call it a 5.8 but I have never been good with number and math. We can call it 110 vs. 351 or whatever, still won't change the results...
1 inch can make every bit of difference
In reply to tb (minimally supportive) :
I thought this event was about going fast for cheap not going fast with the correct amount of unnecessary bring alongs to satisfy someones definition of a car?

Have you been talking to my wife?
Just kidding, I tell the ladies upfront that they better be able to handle dissapointment...

I have no idea what the actual event is about besides magazine content. Are you new to this? Back in the day it used to be about using a real production car, and I tend to be kind of old school.
Rules change over the years, but we are individuals with the ability to define for ourselves precisely what we want to do regardless of what anyone else has to say.
Didn't an MG win the first event? Those weren't even "real cars" from the factory. This is the trash talk thread, not the excuses generator thread.
In reply to maschinenbau (I live here) :
Good point.
I don't even want to argue semantics or anything, but when the trash talk died down quickly I figured I would stir it up.
Besides, a wager generally has terms that are agreed upon by those doing the wagering. Feel free to offer up your own terms and see if anyone is interested.

I'll bet you a Franklin that Travis has finished higher than you ever will.

Pass. Im reckless, not dumb.
Besides. "Ever will" is pretty open ended and I will probably lose interest in this all before I actually get good at it...

2398cc what's the bet?
Heads up? 1.8 vs. 2.4 sounds like it could be a competitive drag race.
Overall? Fine with me but the concors is kinda tough to since it is subjective.
Autox raw time? I haven't settled on a suspension setup but I'm still confident.
You tell me what you want, I'm open
I have to stir the pot, this is how i predict the mustang / Nelson shootout to go
Sorry Jon lol

Its ok. Things like this just fuel the fire!
In addition to our constant trash talking, to those that don't know (see earlier comments in this thread) Andrew and Calvin have the ability to sign of on my NHRA License. Its a major driver for me to get the car into the 9s as the last 2 passes i have to make are required to be sub 10 second passes.
For anyone else looking to take advantage of this opportunity i highly recommend it. It will probably be THE most relaxing way to get signed off by 2 licensed drivers short of a private track rental.
