Pinto.

They were available with a V8. The Pinto, not so much.

It was Motor trend's car of the year in '75, you know.

Yeah, as with most cars, I wanted one of those. Actually, I liked the Oldsmobile H body for some reason.

Still wouldn't mind one if it were suitably modified.

Then again, I spent a little time looking up how to make power with a Ford 400 this afternoon and thinking I'd kinda love this.

So, yeah. I like some weird cars.

I remember one of the hatches like that with big box flares. It was cool.

I was going to say Mustang II also.

A friend in high school in the early 80's had a Monza (wish I knew what year), much nicer body shape. The manual trans scared him, he tried to put in an auto. I remember walking past his house with assorted metal bits scattered everywhere & him scratching his head. Yeah, it ended up like everything else he touched.

The Monza Mirage. Story of the Mirage

Oh, and these were built on the Vega platform. I think they were GM's way of getting their money out of the Vega tooling while distancing themselves from the bad name of that car.

Note to GRMers with Classic Minis: GM H-Bodies have the same bolt pattern. I have those wheels on mine.

I drifted one of those cars before I knew what drifting was.

The frame cracked in half due to rust. Not "had holes in the floorpan" or other nonsense. No, the car literally broke in the middle.
