Is that a Gran Am, Grand Prix or Bonneville? (All Pontiacs look the same from that era)

Good engine, decent car. I wish they had put the 3800 SC in a Grand Am. For that price you could buy it and find a Fiero to put the engine in.

Damn you atlanta! But then again, that car might have 250k on it for it to be that cheap.

Unfortunately in Atlanta, 200K+ is fairly normal for cars. I put 25K+ on my car each year.

So, buy it, polish it. A little tuning and you'd blend in with everyone else.

How did I miss it needs a PS pump!!! Those are a bitch to change without a lot of tools and a lift, although it can be done without the lift.

I think all GMs of this era came with this weird tan leather. It never looks clean.

There is a kid in my neighborhood that had one of these about a year ago, broken and disconnected s/c, gooped up cooling system, 150k miles, and running better than it had any right to in that condition. He paid $900 for his. Sadly he traded it to a friend who tried to fix the s/c, realized that he was in over his head, gave up and junked it before I was able to jump in and snatch it. I was going to use it for BABE rally.

A good friend of mine has a modified one. It's a quick car in a straight line, but that's it.

It also has an aftermarket exhaust and it sounds like total E36 M3. GM V6s sound weird IMO.

The 90º V6s sound odd. The early 3.8 was really bad. The 60º engines sound cool. The only thing I liked about the Beretta was the exhaust note.

My mom had one for a while, it was ok, farily quick in a straight line (mid to high 14s in the 1/4 mile for most of them), and it didnt really have that many problems. Not very fun to work on though, and the interior panels rattled a lot. Handling is ok but not impressive, the ride on the freeway is pretty bad, and there is not much room in the back seat.

thats funny, my friends exwife had one when we were in college, so it was brand new in 2000 or 2001 maybe, but iirc looked just like the one in the ad.
It was faster than a 4 door fwd car has a right to be in a straight line. We actually outran an 80's smog era vette, though thats not saying much. It was kind of a boat, but that made the freeway ride smooth as butter. that thing would just lap up freeway miles. We took it on many 4 hr plus trips and I found the seats very comfortable. typically I sat in the back. hers had the equivilent of a large leather lazy boy love seat in the back, one of the most comfortable car bench seats I've ever sat in. I felt like there was plenty of room and I'm a large-ish fellow. Hers sucked down gas, I think the average was upper teens, but that was with him driving a third of the time and keeping it floored everywhere. She eventually traded it for a 4wd when her commute included snow. I don't remember anything going wrong with it in the 100k ish that they had it, and she owned it from new.

The original was a GM collaboration with ASC and McClaren and featured a turbo. GM had it's moments, but always lost its way.
