Talk about buying a car sight unseen- even the owner hasn't seen it in 17 years! I bought my first Fiat race car this way. Owner left in a barn for twenty years, wanted $500 for it. I was the only soul to venture out to look at it, and left a note at the abandoned farm house. Two months later when the property was sold, the new owner contacted me, and I picked it up for free!

I liked his ad better than the car.

The inevitable spider webs have probably strengthened and reinforced the chassis.
Quirky car....nice story lol. It's likely too far gone to do anything with (even back in 96, it looks too far gone lol), but parts are getting really hard to find for those, so it does have some value to the right person.
Despite being scarce, I saw a mint original survivor (12k miles) 71 Coupe with a $7500 ask, so I doubt they'll ever be worth big bucks
