Hi all,

So I posted about the '78 Nova my daughter and I bought for a daily driver - yeah, I know, but we've had fun with it as a "big puzzle" taking pieces off, back on, and the plan is to primer it like Project FBomb, plus I'm a military vet so it works out.

Also, the 305 just blew oil out the #6 spark plug and leaks bad from there when running and full of oil. So I'm going to need to price 305s or 350s, I really need to get this done as cheaply as possible. The car was $600 and though ugly really was running great and fun, got me up to the VA hospital a couple times a week, 100 miles.. We just don't have alot of money and this engine issue came from nowhere. It's stranded in Albany OR while I figure out an alternative to a $175 tow back to my place in Dallas OR, which I'll probably end up having to do. Luckily I leave tomorrow until the 28th for a job paying 1k, and I am going to need to know if there's anything cheap someone has laying around out there, willing to help out in some way.

Also, the car is brown, and anyone who has cheap primer, we're going to have some Army stickers and GRM stickers in the windows and go flat green and flat black with the car. Hopefully - my first Chevy, my first huge engine issue, and right at a time when I really needed ANYTHING that drives.

The local place is telling me $350 for a 305.

Thanks all!

Dang, you're a long way away from most of us. Any of the NW contingent have anything??

Thank you for your service!

I've got a stock 400 I just fired on the stand. Not perfect but runs. To bad you are so far away.

This should be pretty easy. SBCs are one of the easiest things to find. Try kicking over some rocks. Look on Craigslist for any truck, full size car, mid size car, kit car project, AMC aborted swap. Expect to pay $1/cube if buying just the engine. The junkyard should be full of them if that fails. I have one, but it's busy. Don't bother with a 305. 350, 400, 307 even. You can still find some 327s out there too.

Good luck.
