$1000ish 89 Corvette

This is a local guy's car that seems like a good challenge candidate for someone. 6speed, 93k miles. Well maintained, actively autocrossed for 10+ years. Even has a great set of RE71R tires under it and a passable interior to part out. Owner decided he is of sufficient age that it's time to retire to a less powerful car after going a wee bit under a guardrail. Seems like a smoking deal to me. It's likely the drivetrain and chassis are fine, just need a radiator and a lot of attention to the fiberglass.

Jeez, isn't the 6-speed transmission worth that much? I know it's a zf, but still... That is a smoking deal. Looks quite fixable.

Ya know, I live there too and never made the 'Berk' connection until now. If anyone wants it looked at closely I could probably manage that. No corvette specific knowledge but plenty of mechanical experience if you tell me what you want checked on.

Looks like it wouldn't take much more than a hood and bumper to probably put it right enough for a beater.

I'll say the left frame extension is good and bent and the frame itself needs to be looked at closely. If the frame turns out not to be too bad off, hoods are surprisingly easy to find secondhand with a little CL surfing. It'll need way more than that - also the impact structure, radiator support and more. That said, the trans is worth nearly asking price and the car is a good candidate for a part out. I'm all about saving a lightly hit car but this one may be past that.

So much want, and I have the cash, just nowhere to put it and no time to work on it!

The ZF swap and D44 is worth almost 2x that. My parting out days are almost behind me, don't have time anymore

I see this one as a cheap land speed racer.

I still have the parts to fix it.

I don't need this to part out and stuff in the $100 280z....

So am I the only one on here thinking about making this into a MadMax rally car?
