I so want to get that for Lil Stampie's first car but I'm pretty sure he'd put me in the nursing home early if I did.

I'm not sure what to make of this... part of me sees the potential... and a bigger part says I already have a diesel 5 spd wagon that I haven't touched in four and half years...

You people are very weird to want that. It was a disposable POS 35 years ago and time has not improved it.
Unfortunately, it probably has enough grease on it to resist rust for a while. What a regretable car buying decision!
I actually knew somebody that had one of those new. They lived in Minot, ND (he was in the Air Force) and starting it in the winter was a treat.
One of my high school teachers had a two door escort version of that. It was.... slow and Smokey. But ran for 400k miles.
