I love my manual Explorer. It is one of my favorite vehicles ever. And I've had 42 to date...
I LOVE me some 1st gen Explorer. Had a 94 Eddie Bauer as my 1st vehicle. It is rusting away in my driveway. I always wanted a 2WD sport. It is next to impossible to find 2WD Explorers up here in Illinois.
I'm only about 3 hours away and have a good reason to go down there if anyone wants me to check it out. I can probably even get work to pay me mileage to go. Will a 302 mate to that trans?
It would have an M5OD trans. I don't think they put those behind a 302 but I could be wrong. I also just noticed that the add claims it to be a 1996 but that isn't possible. The body style changed in 95 so it has to be a 91-94. I would totally have you check it out but I am pretty sure SWMBO would be rather upset with another vehicle in the driveway.
Probably a good plan. Unless it's one of those "he has no idea that ____ is worth way more than he's asking" things, I try not to buy from someone that knows way less about a car than I do.
Meaning year, model, fuel type etc. Those a good signs they've never bought spark plugs or changed the oil or if they have they're incorrect parts and such.
