Quick recap of the last month or so of bits.

I filled some voids on the intake with a lot of braze filler and then proceeded to ruin it on the mill

Now I need to dig through the scrap bin and get some material for the throttle body adapter. Looks like it needs to be at least 1.25" tall to clear the valve cover. Then the head goes off to the machine shop for a valve job and a surface.

I got lucky and grabbed a brand new tank and sending unit at a swap meet. $15 was a steal!

It is a cheap 16 gallon replacement. Might as well ruin it too. 0.125" plate and a chunk of 0.50"X0.125" flat are the materials involved

welded the flat bar into the same dimensions of the top plate and laid out some mounting holes with this cool layout tool

drilled and tapped the frame, drilled the tank

photo 20151101_135606_zpseqwgugp1.jpg . Welded the frame to the inside of the tank. This tank is only 22ga. Super flimsy. This is just a reinforcement

So now I have to bend the float arm and pickup tube to make room for the fuel pump in there. I am planning to reuse the old pickup as the injection return line. The fuel pump will be mounted to the top plate and the electrical pass through and fuel outlet will be in the trunk.

I cleaned up the original 63 valve cover, spot welded the coil holder in place and installed a 3/8" BSPT bung so that I could use a common toyota PCV valve. I also needed to change the oil cap from the vented tube to something that actually sealed a bit. I couldn't find anything that I liked and then I found a Jensen Healey gas cap in my junk bin. Still don't know if it is cool or stupid but that is what I am going with

I also don't want oil spraying from the rockers going directly into the PCV

folded up a little box

and spotted it in place

I can also stuff a brillo pad in there if I want.

So that is where I am. In between building the Fiat I am still working on the daily driver, just a lot slower than I had anticipated.

I'd like to come down officially in favor of the JH gas cap oil filler.

The horrible intake manifold design is one of the large reasons mines staying stock until its replaced.

Interested in seeing how yours turns out as ive seen a few converted for a 2 barrel on fordsix that turned out well.

Any further updates?

I've just realized that between this, the Fiat and the Triumph you have an affinity for red headed stepchildren of the engine world.
