Time to start the progress reports.
Picked up in South Carolina a few years ago, this is a rough car, basically has no floors at all, interior is trashed, a 289 and C4 is installed but it hasn't run in at least 15 years
At the Mitty in 2010, many people were trying to buy it.
It came home and sat, and sat, and sat
(Yes for the observant amongst you, those are the front wheels we ran on the MGB Challenger in $2014.)
Until we loaded it up a few days ago, then today it was towed to JMR for a few changes
OK more than a few
I mean who races a Triumph Stag?

mk2 Stag wheels show up, and the hood is up... I'm watching this. I have no first hand experience with most anything Triumph, but these always looked like cool cars, and I bet you come up with some neat solutions.
Parts are not a problem, I have 2 more complete Stags and I parted out 2 rough cars a few years ago, all of which is filed on shelves.
Not that there will be too many OEM parts on this project when done.
I still think these are exceptionally handsome cars.
I have loved Stags since I was a kid when my Triumph enthusiast neighbor drove one, that engine is simply a beautiful sound.
This one is in poor condition, but the shell is pretty straight, and I hate to waste a cool, rare, car body
Not much is going to be Stag when done though.
Not to FAWN all over you, but this project is very DEER to me. I hope you don't spend big BUCKS on it, but put the DOE where it is needed. I'll be sure to HOOF it over often to check progress. (that's all I got)
Sort of looks like 70s celica meets 80s Jag.
I've always loved those wheels. My older brother had a '79 MGB-LE with them. Say what you want about late MGBs, but those LEs looked great in black with the stripes and wheels.
when i look at that my mind goes to a jenson interceptor minus the rear glass. that thing is pretty sweet

Who races a Stag? Tony Hart use to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaBP504FbVE At one time I had four of them but they are all gone now. Good luck with your build.
"it was towed to JMR for a few changes . . . OK more than a few."
So, other than changing the wheels, raising the hood, and permitting a bunch of old men in Winter coats to stare at it, what are these changes that you talkin' about anyway ? ! ? ! ?
Your many photos don't show a damned thing getting done . . .

Come one man, it's not like we're all sitting here with our Stags waiting to copy your build. Spill the beans!

When those pix were taken, the car had only been off the trailer for about 30 minutes.
I know alot of details about this upcoming build, and all I can say is stay tuned!!!
We wont be running a 3.0 but here is the sweet sound of a Stag under load

I hope that you know that I was just kidding around, right? It isn't always clear.
Just LOVE the Stag, stock or otherwise. A very curious, but successful blend of the TR6, late model Spitfire and TR7, with a smidge of TVR around the edges. Will be closely watching this tread, can't wait to see what you're gonna do.
The first thing that I'd probably do it turn up the heat. Those fatties look uncomfortable enough with the constriction of those puffy winter coats . . .
If you are a purist of everything British, be warned, leave this thread now.
That is all.
Hmmmm...
Are British purists anything like mopar purists? If so, it will hardly take anything to piss them off.
Never seen a stag before. Gotta say i like the lines.

Let me guess, John still has some Opel 1.9L stuff in his stash
I'm thinking something further east though...
Yeah more Stags on the road! Also I hope plans include flares, everybody loves flares.

Nooooooooooo ! ! ! ! ! ! Not another LT1 with a six speed. PLEASE be original with this one ! ? ! ?
Worse, a 350/350 combination out of my Aunt's station wagon, but bumped up to a 383. YAWN! Who cares, wake me when this crap is over.
No tired old Chevy S#it allowed! No Corvette chassis transplants. NONE of that crap ! ! !
Check the website heading: GRASSROOTS ! Not Foose Garage.
Fair warning . . . .
Pretty sure you don't need to worry about Steve putting a sbc/lsx in anything.
