sometimes my favorite posts are not of progress made, but the adventures I experience in the cars I love. I had to take a trip up to vernal UT this week for work, most of the drive was not uncharted territory for me but that didn't stop me from pausing for a few photo ops
I really have nothing to do in the evening up here, and exploring a new stretch of asphalt always sounds more exciting than a night infront of the television, so I decided to take a 40 minute drive up north to check out flaming gorge since I had never been. Well worth the time and gas spent I must say. What a beautiful area.
cool mountain air, fresh smell of rain, dry and twisty roads, virtually empty on a weeknight. . . what more could a car guy ask for? besides a smooth running machine of course, which I also had the pleasure of this evening. . . no easier way to put a smile on my face
When I turned down the short road to the damn overlook I passed a sheriff sitting in his truck, shortly after passing he drove down, backed into a spot and just sat looking at the audi. When I started walking back I heard a "Nice car!" from the officer so I went and chatted for a few. Nice guy, told me about the 325is he put some work into a few years back. He sure seemed to like the 4000. After thanking him for all the compliments I fired up the 5cyl and headed back. to civilization.
What a fine evening. Again, much better than watching the tube for a few hours, and all it cost me was a little gas.
Nice photos. Sometimes the journey is the destination.
Gorgeous, looks like a fun drive!

There's a very clean example of the same car on my street, I really like the look of the car. Every time I see it I think of this thread. I have nothing useful to add.

nonsense! I'm flattered that people are reminded of my build when they see another 4000
thanks for the compliments guys, this thing went from an idea to fruition quite fast by my project standards and I truly have the GRM community to thank in part for a lot of motivation.
I got a flat on my way home yesterday hard to hear or feel when a 35 series looses air. . . I didn't realize it till I started to smell it . ordered another yokohama S-drive yesterday, I just really hope it arrives by Friday as I am registered to show at Dubs along the Rockies this Saturday. . . . fingers crossed!
damn bro sucks about the flat. as being your best friend, im always jealous of your drives you have. once day ill get to post up driving pics in my car..lol. best of luck this weekend. ill be working. :( but hey, its money for the bug. again...i love your car, and the pics as always.
thanks bro, a few of us were just saying how bad it sucks that you can't make this one. . . but we are all down to hang out and have a little gathering once you get off this fire and come to town. and don't sweat it man, once you get those last few bugs (pun intended ) ironed out there will be nothing left to do on that car but drive and enjoy it for quite awhile. . . sure, there is always more to do but you have accomplished so much already, it just needs to be used and abused!
ya i know it sucks missing a local show like this. but oh well. i think a little gtg and drive/ bbq will make up for it. thanks for the support. i need it sometimes as you know most this hasn't been a cut and dry build more or less. ya i cant wait to seriously beat the crap outta this car, and even get some daily use rock chips on it.
well as always jay throw a few beers back for me, and have a great time and again, video/photos im sure will be short to follow. im maily

well as always jay throw a few beers back for me, and have a great time and again, video/photos im sure will be short to follow. im mainly jealous that you get to drive the best part of good old I-70. i know its interstate, but i still love the drive from junction to denver given i haven't done that stretch of I-70 in almost 6yrs.
dang jay.... as always i love your way of capturing your events in life. congrats on your win, and the raffle wins.
Man you live in some beautiful country! You need to get a thread going for your Z and get some pics of it up here!
true story. that car really does need a digital home. . . but for now here are more cool pics
went for a short drive with Katrina yesterday. Thought it would be more fun to take 2 cars
I'm being honest (and feeling very lucky) when I say we have our own mini tail of the dragon out here in just about every direction you look. . . it's a rough life as you can see
where is your favorite road?? mine is just past this sign
roughly one hour from my front door
Dude, what part of Denver were you in for the show? I just got back to Atlanta
from there, and I could have sworn that I saw your ride while I was out there!
Wow, beautiful country. How about a build thread on the 200SX too!
the show was in parker but i was criss-crossing all over denver while i was there. it's definetly possible that you saw me. . . and pretty cool if you did. I also met a guy at the show who spends time volunteering in africa every year, he seemed confident that he could score me a set of cibie headlights sounds like he brings 3 carry-on bags worth of car parts with him everytime he comes back home.
Crazy, I wasn't in Parker but my name is Parker
haha that is funny. if you were in lakewood, aurora, downtown or anywhere inbetween i wouldnt be surprised if we passed eachother at some point. obviously the front range isnt running deep with red 4000's stuffed with 225's or i might have had some more competition that weekend
Yeah, I was staying in Arvada, going between Lakewood, Golden, CO Springs, and Friday was out at Red Rocks for a show. I did see about 12 VW Type III's in various (excellent) states of repair over the weekend. Cool cars, though no competition for yours!
that makes sense, Bug In got moved to the day after DATR, I would have gone if I didn't have a long drive back home that day. that's a pretty big event for fast straight line air cooled cars, so I've been told, maybe when the audi is fast i'll check that one out.
fuel rail is almost done, just need to make brackets and get fittings
brackets are done. . . though i'm not really happy with the back one, might remake it
either way they will do the job and it's one of those little things most wont even see/notice with a fitting and fuel line running over the top. that being said, making them pretty was quick compared to the rest of the fab work on these small pieces to the puzzle. trying to knock out all the time consuming stuff now so that everything will just snap into place like a stock for stock swap. . . obviously I will need to put work into the engine bay with the battery trey removal, intercooler plumbing, MS wiring and what not but I want all the engine stuff ready to go otherwise. it's getting there
whats the best source on AN fittings? ebay?
on the road to kolorado treffen
more pics to come
I have pics but the video is better. . .I never got a rolling shot of my 4000 like I was waiting on but here it is, one awesome colorado euro cruise for your viewing pleasure
