I'm still pretty amazed you guys find these old high-dollar special-edition luxury cars for so little money. Though I'll admit I've never looked for one.
I'm looking forward to seeing your Plan B!

Never underestimate the lack of value in a rusty, high mileage german car in the extremely rural south.
Youd be shocked at what 5k doesn't buy you in a truck as well.
I found this morning that the 12x1.5 cars got wheels with a r12 radius seat and the m14 lug car wheels got an r14 seat. Will confirm when i have wheels and lug nuts in hand, but it seems the easy button to fix that is to get plain old tapered lug nuts and adapter washer dudes with the m14 radius on the male and tapered seat on the female. Otherwise it’s adapter bolts that literally only one place makes that i can find with the m12 threads and r14 seat. For wheels that will likely get used for the challenge then sold, and the drag radial wheels that will probably get used a couple times a year, i think dedicated bolts are not the right way to go. I’m converting to studs anyway because easier mounting and will be putting the factory wheels on after the event, so I don’t want to own a bunch of specialty hardware.

Good plan - but remember to double check that you can still clear the fender lip. Even though you may be at full droop, I was caught off guard by how thick some of the Benz wheels can be - which requires looooong studs and which then caused the tire/wheel to foul on the fender lip when I went to try and mount it to the hub. Disclaimer my Benz was not your model. Enjoy the new car!
Got the 3” long stud kit because i like 3” studs, they make starting the nuts so simple.
R500 18” wheels showed up today @ $90 shipped for a pair

That’s a shame. I was looking forward to meeting you also.
I'll make it eventually lol
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
Can confirm the lug nuts i have procured fit the r500 and slk wheels, which came with m14 bolts, perfectly. So all the worry about wheel seats was unfounded
In reply to Aaron_King :
I needed 18” for the drag radials I already had and 17” for the A7’s i was able to grab cheap on short notice, the thought is appreciated though
I'm your Huckleberry.
Sent this pic to swmbo at 7:04 pm Saturday. Gumby's burnout was even bigger, couldn't get my phone out in time tho.
Followed by "he'll deliver" at 7:28
Today the insurance lady quoted the car with the statement "I assumed you guys wouldn't be daily driving it"
Swmbo : "I thought you said I could drive it to work?!?!?!"
I'm screwed.
