Throttle cable just needed a little lube! She's returning to 0% on the tps nice and smoothly now. A lot nicer to drive without a hanging throttle. While cruising, the exhaust is quite reasonable. At WOT, it's stupid loud and any cop in a 1/4 mile radius is going to hear me coming. Not sure what I can do there. I've got a resonator and a muffler in the 3' of space I have to work with. I put another 20 miles on it before rush hour traffic started. Sooo much fun! Worth all of the long hours for sure! Also removed the little "flywheel cover" I fabbed up and replaced it with the proper Honda "transmission brace" that's supposed to go there.
I think all that's left is a dyno tune and then various cosmetic things - like trim up the rear trunk under bracing to clear the valve cover. I have a carpet kit that came with the car. Might glue that in place. Would be kind of nice to wire in the fuel level sensor to the ic7 dash too.
Drove the 914 into work today. Had my Porsche buddy record a couple second gear drive bys. lol
Hangin at the HSR Sebring event. Tons of rad old machinery here.

Haha, berkeley yeah dude! It's like I see a 914 but I hear a 2-liter bike.

Thanks brother! I really should have rev'd it out to the limiter for the video. But I just got a ticket the day prior, the car is loud af, and cops are known to hang around the area. I'll get another one soon at full song. :)
That is totally awesome! Congrats on such a cool build.
914 got most of a carpet kit and Boxster got some cupholders that my brother-in-law 3d printed for me.
Made a work trip to Miami today. And as I usually do, I scanned Marketplace in the area before making the trip. Snagged these 15x8 and 15x9 old school BBS for cheap. They need a bit of help and I'm not sure if they'll clear the Boxster brakes I have on the front of the 914, but for the price, I had to take em home. The recent spray bomb job is hiding some corrosion and flaking finish in some areas.
Obviously you already have these now but if you're interested in the 16" Rial mesh wheels I got a couple weeks ago let me know. I'd be willing to take a loss just to save me the trouble of listing on eBay.
The rials are dope. But the look of the smaller 15s with fat lips is what I really like, and are more period-correct. If they actually clear the brakes, I may put a little money into refinishing them.
Well damn. They do clear the brakes. Now I've got some thinking to do.
They look great. Hopefully you can find some 15" tires that work size wise. That's why I decided to bump to 16".
Yeah. At a quick glance at tire rack, the only tire available in the size I'd want for the rear is a Hoosier A7 😂
seems crazy because miata guys run 15x9 all the time.
Edit: looks like Toyo proxes r888r (same tires I have on the Fuchs) are available in 225/50/15 and 235/50/15. These are probably what I'd use.
I bet there's some Hoosier TD-R in the right size that would be perfect on those wheels/car and even have more "tread" than an A7 lol

I have no problem running TireStreets brands, but I'd need something wider for the rears.
In reply to Lof8 - Andy :
I gotcha. I just looked for the two sizes you mentioned above.
dyno tune tentatively scheduled for Saturday.
Looks like you got your clearance now! I'm excited to see what kinda numbers you get with your setup.

I'd like to see 200 at the wheels. But even if that doesn't happen, I'm already very happy with a car that's much more driveable than what I started with👍

Not sure if you've got a chance to stretch it's legs yet, but what's your thoughts on gearing so far with the 6 speed?
It feels very natural so far with about 50 miles of street use. 5th felt like the right gear at about a 50mph cruise. No complaints from me.
it is kind of a noisy gearbox, mostly on deceleration. Not sure if it's just a result of nearly zero sound insulation in the car.
