That's certainly the easiest option - and it's got at least two, maybe three layers of paint on it, so I'm not worried about scratching nice original paint. But I've been pondering using riv-nuts or even trying to braze inserts on there to make it look like the bike left the factory with hard points for a bottle. I might use hose clamps first until I'm sure that is where we want the bottle cage to go.
