Great news! Can't wait to hear your impressions!
Hopefully things go smoothly from here!
My X5 was waiting for transport from the factory in South Carolina for three weeks before I took delivery last weekend.
When I picked it up, the North Liberty dealer had their demonstrator Lightning on the lot.
Still no word on delivery, sounds like with the third party delivery companies it just shows up one day. Weird how not streamlined this part of the process is.
apparently ford invoices the dealer the day the truck is produced, so the incentive to actually get it into customers hands isn't that high.
That's pretty much par for the course for auto transport. Lots of variables go into routing and loading/unloading.
Today is the last date in my delivery window. looks like it still hasn't moved or been put onto a rail car or carrier.

When you special order do you pay MSRP or are you paying whatever the dealer says the market price is when your truck arrives to their lot?
In reply to yupididit :
They are making me pay msrp plus +250$
and if they try and mark it up when i get there they better be ready.
In reply to Norma66-Brent :
Thats great. My local dealers are doing at least $25k. I'd be more open to special ordering and waiting 7 to 8 months if I knew I could get it for MSRP + $250.
Based on some of Ford's comments of late, I suspect you could hit up some regional reps if they tried to adjust the price on a special order. Ford Corporate seems to fail to see the humor in it.
As for non-special-order Lightnings (do they exist yet?), that might be a different matter.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Thank you! The only non-special orders I've seen are demos. Which are also MSRP + whatever they want.
I cam across my first actual encounter with a Lightning today. I live next to a country club and yesterday I had noticed that the owner of the local Ford dealership, who is a member, was driving one. Today I got pictures of it in the parking lot.
in this picture below I am trying to highlight that the independent rear has some beefy, what look to be aluminum, control arms!
In reply to Norma66-Brent :
I hope my pictures of another Lightning doesn't take away from the excitement of your soon arrival. But, it just seems that this thread is the current epicenter of all things Lightning.
