I agree that looks like a good score.
Is the Onan fed from the propane tanks or gas tank? I understand the propane fueled generators often suffer from a lack of maintenance as owners get frightened of the different fuel, so it likely just needs to be serviced.

I don't think I've ever seen a gas coach with a propane genny
On the tune-up, look for plug wires for high heat enviroments, I think Banks, MSD and other make them, usually with ceramic boots. Even with good parts, tune-ups will be more frequent since the engine compartment gets so hot.
I would fix the Onan gen, much quieter running than regular ones.
I'm running short on time to get the tune up done before the CMP Lemons race so I called a shop to see what they would charge to do plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.
"Somewhere around $1000.00."
I'm obviously in the wrong berkeleying business.

Heh. Wait till after you work on it to say that.
Along the same lines I took my EcoBoost F150 in for one of my 2 included oil changes. The dollar figure on the zeroed invoice was $156+. Included $40 for shop supplies. And that wasn't even for full synthetic oil.

I've pulled the engine cover. The dizzy is right on top and easy to see. The passenger side plugs are in plain site and easy to get at. The drivers side plugs will probably need to be changed from the underside. I figure 2-3 hours tops. I was kind of shocked.
I'll let you know how much of a pain in the ass it is in a few days.
Ordered all the parts to do belts, hoses, cap, rotor, plugs, and wires.
Total cost, $125.
I hate the standard knuckle-dragging 6BT is the answer to everything mentality but one really could be in order here.
Nope, no engine swaps for this one. It's going to get used.
If I swap one it will be SanFord.
BTW whatever happened to the 6.0 PSD airport bus?
In reply to A 401 CJ :
I still have it. The yard is a bit full.

(wheels turning in my head on swapping a PSD into my '92... except my yard is already past full...)
This morning before starting on the Lemons cars again, I changed the plug on the AC line and got the beast plugged into shore power.
Again, some good news, some bad.
Good news first. The refrigerator is working flawlessly on AC as well as propane. The 12v converter is working as well, as is the front air conditioning unit.
The bad news. The rear A/C is DOA. Not sure what the problem is, but it acts like it doesn't have power. I didn't have any time to troubleshoot it today beyond checking the breakers. I'll have to dig into that on another day.

I assume that you found the front/rear ac switch?

Hmm. I didn't know that was a thing. I'll have to look for that tomorrow.
Thanks!

If it's a 30amp coach there will be a switch somewhere that will only allow one of the rooftops to run at a time since they need 20amps a piece. Mine is in a little cabinet above the microwave, but I doubt there's any kind of standard location.
Tomorrow was taking too long.
Found it.
Rear A/C works as well.
Thanks again Wae!
I dumped a couple of cans of R134 in the dash A/C this afternoon. It's cooling better now, but still isn't super cold.
I also did some fiddling with the hydraulic leveling system to see if it works. It works very well.
So what is car count up to now? Sanford, Airport Bus, This RV, Crown Vic, Samurai, B210, G35, Silverado, ?????
In reply to MrChaos :
Too many. Add in the XJ, the Abomination, and the wife's Mustang. The Lemons Civic is still hanging around as well. The back yard is looking like a used car lot.
I'm in the debating stage on SanFord and the shuttle bus. Do I keep it and finish the project or move on. Part of me really wants to finish the job but the engine swap is going to be a huge task. As is the front axle swap.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why this is the best repair forum on the interwebs no matter what you're working on!
This evening it got plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. It runs 100% better. I had left the A/C running so I got to do half the job in the cool. The other half more than made up for it. Everything was in sight on the passenger side. Easy as can be. The drivers side was under the floorboard and inaccessible from the top side. Unfortunately, from underneath, the master cylinder and hydro-boost was in the way. They pretty much sucked to change.
I also checked all the belts and hoses. I had ordered a full set to at least have on hand. Right before they showed up, I found a full set of belts and hoses under the couch. The alternator/PS/fan belt has been run loose and was pretty much burned up. It got replaced. Everything else still looked pretty new so I'm going to let it ride for now.
No pictures again for some reason. I'll try to shoot some in the future.
Hey Toyman,
i had the bounder/Chevy version of this and had to fix quite a bit more unfortunately. Check that the fuse is not popped on the right side of the genny- if not that, it may be the oil pressure sender. Both will kill it or keep it from running as I recall. I have a spare carb for that genny if it’s an onan 7000- you are welcome to it if needed. That particular model also has its one fuel pump apart for the regular one. The fuel filters also get clogged.
Btw, I replaced the springs on my lift system, it was pita, but doable.
I also had airlift springs front and rear on mine and they made a world of difference. The front ones are a pain, boil them before you try and put them in the coils.
We we loved ours- got it for $1700. Fixed it up for about $750 and ended up spending 5 weeks in it driving it up to Maine from west palm with more than a few adventures. The kids were 6 and 8, one the best months of my life.
One last thing, if you have wind noise up front, seal the windshield with some caulk- they move around over time.
In reply to grover :
The generator is a Onan Emerald Plus 4000. It turns over, has oil. Acts like the fuel pump is dead. It's on the list of things to take care of.
Well, a gentelman just stopped by and offed $10k for SanFord.
His timing is pretty good.
