I have a 1986 Volvo 240 that I picked up as a shell for 1k (I know a little over priced for just a shell) I purchased a 5.3 out of a 06 Sierra and a nv3500 out of a 05 Silverado. Since I've purchased the three main components I picked up IPD lowering spring, poor man motor sports low profile oil pan. Summit block higher headers, Holley drive by cable 90mm throttle body matted to a ICT 3 to 4 mount adapter plate. I purchased the Holley terminator x to do my wiring. A lokar universal throttle cable so I can cut to length. Running on giffin motor mounts and the stock trans mount motifed to bolt the trans (allegedly)

Did you happen to buy that shell around the Raleigh NC area? I distinctly remember a Purple engine bay under tan/gold paint on CL in this area not that long ago.
Should be a good build, the 240 engine bay accommodates just about anything you can think to stuff in there and the sheet metal holds up pretty well to the ravages of time comparatively.
In reply to Medchin : I got this from a guy out near Syracuse Ny

In reply to Volvo1500 :
Huh, there's no way that's a factory option, I guess great minds think alike? Or maybe the local shell somehow made it's way up there? That seems unlikely. Good luck with the build.
In reply to Medchin : the previous owner may have posted it all over the east coast cause I know he moved far west. Much appreciated
This car was on this forum in some manner previously. Maybe a build thread, or maybe a re-post for sale add. Cool project.
Got one front lowering springs in. Had a few hiccups to get it done going to do the other side today. Would've done it last night but I work early mornings so it wasn't worth being tired over

If those are the IPD lowering springs I think you're going to like them. They're what I have on my 242 and they're a marked improvement in feel/comfort on the 40+ year old factory springs and the improved stance is an added bonus.
In reply to Medchin : they are I'm hoping they will support the ls while keeping the nice stance it has
In reply to TurnerX19 : there is I originally was continuing a previous owners thread then I started this one instead.
heres the original: https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/1986-volvo-240-turbo-ms-mostly-a-cry-for-help-help/141873/page3/
Finished the springs all around. The next step is stuffing the motor and trans in so hopefully will get to that soon
Waiting for the clutch kit to come in then I can throw everything all together. Think about repainting the engine bay and might clean up the hood a bit since there's a dent and surface rust and might just send it black
In reply to Volvo1500 :
I've got my eye on that clutch kit. Let me know what you think of it when you drive the car.
In reply to Scotty Con Queso :
Will do
Got it all assembled. The motor gets dropped in on Saturday. Hoping it all goes in well. Trans tunnel was already hammered out by a previous owner who tried to Ls swap it as well.
And now we have the motor in. Still a ton of work to go but now a huge step has been completed
shifter is in and clearing all around. No ac but I didn't plan on doing it anyways. Cuts a little close and I did have to shorten it but I'm digging it
Just gotta wire and wait for the driveshaft to be done and she's ready to roll I need to just not be lazy and get the wiring finished also gotta order the front core support
It's been awhile since I've added an update. I got the front core support out of a junkyard shes beat up but it supports the radiator and headlights just fine. All the wiring and fuel lines are complete. Just installed a radiator from an eagle talon. Just needing to finish the fan wiring and mount the overflow tank. Waiting on my sts clutch pedal to come in and she should be ready for the first drive.
