the last pics of LS1-KART with skinny tires. ever.
Hey Gator
I hope you are very proud of that thing, really looks sharp. Question (for the whole group following as well) -how much tire in a light car is "too much" before extra weight and inertia start working against you? Compared to just getting Nitto 555's or stickier tires all the way around. This is now a pretty light car.
I would love to see 1/4 mile times and lap times someday

i still havent driven it enough to build up temps. i plan to put miles on it this weekend. though its cool out, the only discernable change i hope to notice is that the trans + exhaust tunnel used to get warm to the touch uncoated. so when i get it up to temp i should hopefully feel a bit of difference.
In reply to Javelin :
IDK... diverging paths... i do have a photo op planned with a guy at work who has a MINT 98 torch red drop top corvette, exactly like this one rolled out of bowling green.
In reply to Agent98 :
thanks much, its been the funnest car project i have tackled for sure!
my primary use will be autox. i think its hard to have too much tire for autox. i weighed the repro wheels, they are ~23lbs. i am just going to run street tires this year. surely more is better in the rear, i may be losing a bit of advantage up front with such a large tire/wheel combo, time will tell!
i am pretty close to gainesville FL and i have run various other cars/trucks there before. at some point i will try to get a few passes in!
It looks ridiculous! Can't wait to see it in person. I may be going to cars and coffee this weekend, what time you heading up there?
In reply to pimpm3 :
not sure when yet.. probably somewhat early, if the weather holds i am sure turnout will be good. drop me a text. and yea, its pretty radical in person with all the meat!!
So I sent this thread to my brother and dad. Apparently, they have both seen this car (and the C3) and heard it run. Pretty small world.
first drive in rain; CHECK.
i thought i could make it to the gas station to refuel before the rain moved in. wrong. wasnt bad at all moving. however traffic lights were no fun.

LOL. on the street?
Negative. I was told that my sister-in-law has a friend that is a neighbor of yours. There was also something about you helping my dad and brother move some furniture.
In reply to jmabarone :
wow, yea, i know who you are talking about. i dont remember your dad/brothers name but they bought my neighbors massively heavy TV cabinet/thing... SMALL WORLD!
In reply to maschinenbau :
thanks! i like 5-spoke designs in general. the fact that C4 ZR1s are the only reasonably priced 17x11 have that look was just a nice coincidence!
In reply to Mad_Ratel :
funny you mention that. i was going to get on the roof above my garage yesterday to take a top down pic (for the purpose of showing rubber proportion) when the rain event occurred... may get around to that today or tomorrow!
Well, this has been a truly amazing read/journey......soooo many bad ideas ........execution and attention to detail are top notch.....cudos to TIG mastersan !!!! How much $$$$$ are you into this so far???
In reply to 759NRNG :

as much i appreciate the purple anodized hard plastic steering wheel pimpm3 traded me for the AC compressor, this one looks and feels a bit better.... will keep the other for when the kart is in serious repair, nice to not have to clean your hands to move it....
