Yesterday was a LONG day. Body is clearaned fully, cage is done (minus gussets), new tig is broken in, and i successfully melted metal together with a tig for the first time. And i owe it all to steve. It truly wouldn't have gotten here without him. He brings so many skills and a volume of experience that makes these things seem easy. But looking at if i were to do it solo, i couldn't.
Today i need to fix the truck and my air compressor. Next weekend is devoted to my wife. So, expect nothing for a while.
That is a mountain of work. I am so impressed with all of it. Nice work, enjoy the family time next weekend.
This right here is the money shot. Its the picture that proves brother dustin's tape measuring was accurate. Its the one that is the result of 104 cut off wheels, 12 sawzall blades, a handful of plasma cutter tips and one torch, and many hours of work by good friends. THIS is where i wanted it to land, with the halo tucked fully in the roof. With the rockers hanging lower than the frame rails. With the a pillar resting firmly on the cage. With the top door bar barely kissing the top of the door.
We berkeleying NAILED it, and i cant be more happy.
That front A pillar fitment is incredible. You should be happy, and proud. I can't wait to see the rest of the body take shape.
This thing is so lame.
Old malaise Mopar paired with cast off Nascar sCRAP.
What a pile of E36 M3. Why would you waste all this time effort and money on such a wasteful venture?
Lolz.
Man, that looks incredible! I know I shouldn't but this makes me want to take the body of of my car all over again lol. I can't believe it fits so well!
*opens FB marketplace tab to look at muscle car rollers*
I think you've already named this car as Tommy Boy, but if not Money Shot would also be a fitting name!!!

The original working name was Tommy boy. However, MoCAR has stuck and fits right. Even dad has started saying it.
If you want to do a little title editing, i won't mind!

Lolz. You know me! When does the Chinese spooly Boi get put on?
How about MOSCAR?
Amazing job... just so cool!
What do you plan to do with it ultimately?
What kind of racing... I apologize, I have not read the entire thread....
And yes I agree, Steve is badass.
Rob: no turbo. Direct port nitrous!
Kevin: going for hpde, time trials and hillclimbs. This is the safest way for me to participate in those. Risk mitigation is huge to me. Want to be around to see my grandkids.
wvumtnkbr I was goofin' with my all caps response ....sorry Dbd13 for the hyjak......hey are you using Dzus fasteners to hold the body to the frame???
In reply to 759NRNG :
I think you misspelled "welded"
In all seriousness I can't think of a good way to make a quick release body out of this shell and therefore I'm not even going to try. There are very few operations that the main shell would need to come off for and at that point the car would probably be totaled anyway. Almost everything will be able to be serviced with the main shell on. Front clip will be easily removable if I can figure out how however
