I am a build thread addict

I don't really care what it is, if it requires mechanical problem solving or fabrication, I am hooked.

While I have scoured the net in search of fixes, it's never enough.

I find that the GRM forum offers the most satisfying fix for my addiction. Nobody else has the depth and variety of projects that this board offers.

Yeah sure there are some exotic Scandihoovian builds going on that blow my mind with the complexity, and some awesome hot rods and off road stuff going on, but nobody offers the melange of projects, with the laid back and plausible flavour that says "I could do that!", that this place does. Total satisfaction (except the enough is never enough) in one forum!

Tuna, SkinnyG, Mazdeuce,Burrito and Ben Modified, amongst several others, you are all bad people and should be ashamed

I admit to reading pretty much every single post that shows up on this board.

My name is NOHOME and I have a problem. Thank you all.

Also, my home away from home (aka not GRM) is RetroRides. The Modus Operandi is something I wish more car forums adhered to.

So, if you're looking for a new build thread to read, head on over there. There's always weird engine swaps and good sheet metal work to be seen.

I'm glad Mr Tex Mex wrapped food mentioned Retro Rides. That is the holy cup of Jesus for build threads.

Don't worry about your addiction its safe and healthy, many share it with no ill effects.

Well aware of Retro Rides and I have caught a few of you over there (et tu Ditchdigger?"

Still find this place more to my liking. Like I said, I can relate to the projects here.

I really wanted to make a website that could collect build threads from across the net as I too enjoy just reading through project threads all day. This forum has some of the best out there overall, but there certainly are some interesting ones that pop up on the various make/model specific forums. I'm really make/model agnostic as long as the build is interesting.

I wish I had patience to make a build thread. I am swapping engines and modifying my chump car all the time.

I think build threads are next level stuff. I am not there yet...

For those of you with build threads, I envy you and GREATLY enjoy them.

Carry on my good people!

^^

If you aren't picky on what's being built, Garage journal has some cool stuff. Hundreds of garage builds as well as lots of old equipment, one off stuff, etc.. Here's a peek at one cool build. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132812 (I believe it's in a sectino that you don't have to be a member to see??)

Raises hand...I am a build thread junky..

A lot of talent resides within our own GRM community. Once a built is finished it will unfortunately slid into obscurity. Most of us are blessed with tribal knowledge and can recall stuff but noobs don't have that luxury.

What about making a GRM index thread in the build section?

For instance , "The GRM build thread Junky index"

The index would be a list of URL's of GRM members. If a user wants to participate just post to the index a list of your projects. Since we are all endowed with the edit function, just edit your post to add different URL's to your post as time progresses.

For instance, a user would make a post of his/her project with a brief description and add a URL. Latter, the user could go back and edit the post to add another URL.

Anyway it's a thought and I only had a few min to writ this, I got to run. Ddiscuss?
