She’s back on the ground. Need to pull the heat exchanger then it’s motor time!!
The front needs to come down 3 ish inches. Sure hope this hog of a motor has enough weight.

Went to test fit the motor tonight.
this thing is pretty long. Had to take the serpentine apart to get it in.
realized pretty quickly on the way down that something wasn’t right
oil pan is hitting the cross member and the motor mounts aren’t close to the perch’s.
The small block that was in before mounted through the side holes with one big long bolt on each side. With the 390 it’s one big bolt on the motor mount side and with the hole in the middle of the perch I though it would just bolt in.
Definitely wrong. Not sure what I don’t have right.
Good news is I’m not a idiot. Bad news is I have the wrongs perches. Found a guy on my galaxie forum that had them. Found a picture of the correct ones, should get me there no problem
Pressure washed the frame and cross-member. Tornados keep popping up here so had to stop for the day. Next is wire wheel the cross member then por-15 time.
Used some hillbilly engineering to get the bolts in for the motor mounts. I didn’t have access to the upper bolts. So I tied some fishing line and pulled them through.
Got the motor in. Mounts are correct.
problem is there is still some interference on the cross member and pan.
Looks like I have two options. Cut the cross member flange or cut and modify the pan. Im going to take a few days and decide what I want to do. Current state the oil bung is inaccessible for oil changes.
NOHOME said:Move the bung space engine up quarter inch?
Came in to say “space motor mounts up a little”, but a better man has beaten me to it.

Yes! Need to get some wilwood parts coming! Doing some research on electrical panel upgrades now as well! Column got dropped off at paint today!
Trying to get a game plan going on the wiring. Looking at all the diagrams and it doesn't seem that bad. This seems like one of those jobs you put off and put off and you just need to get started. Going to pick up the gas tank tomorrow and get that retrofitted.
Norma’s moved and ready for work to start. Column will be done Monday and the work can begin on the manual swap.
You'll need to log in to post.
