I’d love to know more details on his towing setup, as that’s exactly what I want to do with the P71 and Miata!

It’s just a hitch and a trailer wiring setup. No suspension mods. I would say though, that it would benefit from a set of air shocks.
I dont know why I want this. This is somehow one of my favorite things I've seen on GRM lately. The random hilarity of it. I feel like we should give it a name and going forward, every once in a while refer to it spontaneously as if it were a person.

I felt the same way when I saw it too! Even better is the seemingly legit TJ Max price tag still stuck to the back.

I tow with mine on a fairly regular basis. Usually my tandem trailer with either the Abomination or the Polaris on it. Lock out the overdrive and set the cruise. It gets about 13 mpg towing. The only mods are a decent trailer hitch, the wiring kit, and a good set of rear shocks.

Yeah that’s why I suggested the air shocks. Plumb in a hose somewhere accessible and pump them up when needed. While my dads P71 doesn’t have a problem towing heavier stuff, it definitely drags chains and sometimes the hitch scrapes the ground. A good set of Gabriel air shocks would make towing heavier things not feel like you’re bottoming out on everything.
Oh yeah and I second locking out overdrive. Also don’t cheap out on the trailer hitch, they make Class IIIs for these cars. It’s overkill, but worth it.
This happened today.
$250 for the set, the tires will need replaced somewhat soon though. Tire Rack has some for $92-each though. They’re Mustang GT wheels, possibly 2012-ish.

That looks great, kind of cool but still OEM ish.
The P71 at the challenge had an explorer console added to the interior, it looked OE.
Did you see it?

No, I missed that. Mine has the wide seats(it actually has belts for 3-people) since it was a detective car. There isn’t any place for a console unless I swap seats too.
I talked my dad into getting a set of LX Sport wheels for his Summer tires. He didn’t even know they existed. I like the older style, but my dad has an ‘06 with the updated suspension.
