After a week with no updates, I finally got to spend some time on SanFord this morning. Another section blasted.
A couple of hours later, instant rust.
That's as far as I made it before I ran out of sand. I'll be drying and sifting it all again. Hopefully one more session will complete it.
Ospho will go on later this afternoon or in the morning, and hopefully primer tomorrow afternoon.
To revisit the General Pump water sand blaster kit from Northern Tools, it sucks. The fist gun is completely worn out after blasting 2/3 of the bus. I'm on my 2nd gun and 4th tip. Durable it isn't. I'll be looking at other brands over the next couple of days.
More to come.
A couple of more hours and a shot of Ospho. No more rust.
I'll lay down a coat of primer tomorrow.
The primer didn't happen yesterday because of a funeral for a family friend. I bailed on work at 2:30 and came home to get it done. It's supposed to rain tomorrow.
It certainly changes the way the bus looks to have it all one color. It also helps every dent and crease show up nicely.
More to come.
Everytime I see a truck of that age with no dents I feel like I'm being lied to.

This one has it's share, and I'm probably not going to fix any of them. It's not going to be a show piece. I'm hoping the lighter colors of green and the satin finish will make them less noticeable.

the dents and scratches will also make people be more careful driving around you. makes them scared
I wanted to try out the colors and see how the paint was going to spread. The sun has set so the colors are washed out a little, but I like them so far.
The paint is outstanding. The best I have ever used. The above is one coat applied with a brush and it is perfect. If you ever need an acrylic paint for exterior, I strongly recommend Sherman Williams Infinity.
That looks amazing. I love the colors

Is this the new go-to for low buck paint instead of Rustoleum?
The colors look nice!

Will you be brushing the whole thing?
In reply to RossD:
Probably not. Most of it will be going on with a roller unless the finish looks bad.
looks great! I know some of the folks in Sherwin Williams R&D. I'll tell them you approve.
Those colors are perfect.

I'll be over here by myself...Too much pastel for my taste.
This makes me extremely happy. Those colors are going to be awesome!
Needs a line of purple or red to break up the two colors.
In reply to 914Driver:
It's probably going to get a red line down the middle.
I think I like the red better.
agreed, thin red. But make sure it's a true red, not an orangey-red.
So I see we're back to the Planet Express logo-less Planet Express livery. I like it.
