How many turns is the steering lock-to-lock?

It's two and a half turns but I think that might be tire limited right now.

That should lower the car some.

Lowering the car: good.

Shorter gearing for autocross and drag runs: even better.

I can't wait!

BTW, rotors and performance pads are ordered.

I'm not sure how far our team leader is planning to take the lightening of the car. All I'm saying is that to keep the snorkel, you have to keep the A pillar.

Weight loss has begun.

This is Lil Stampie complaining he couldn't get a wrench on a nut.  It was pretty easy for an old man to do.

Driver's seat out.

Passenger seat out.

Rear seat bottom out.

Then we discovered that we need like a T50 to remove the rear seat back. So we test fit the performance driving seat.

And our recoup for today was $1.16.

Turns out we needed a T45 to remove the rear seat.

Looky here. What's this?

Could it be the build sheet?  This car just went up in value cause only the rare expensive cars come with build sheets.

Then we figured out that the seat needs one 2x4 in front and three 2x4s in the rear to get the right height.

Titled and tagged.

Also picked up some angle iron to mount the seat.

I was gonna say that looks like an Alro receipt. Was $0.99/lb for usable drops last time I was there.

Guess we need to get some stuff done. Let's mount the seat!

We have a new to us tool. The two previous owners couldn't find a chuck key that would work. We got it free plus the metric chuck key off Amazon. Still rednecking it.

Front and back rails installed.

We're going to call this the honorary Sleepyhead speed hole.

Seat rails installed.

Mocked in place just waiting to weld after a good Mexican lunch.

While Lil Stampie books the seat back in I'll share pictures.

Lil Stampie wanted to weld so. Tacking the front.

And then tacking the back.

And pull the seat so he can weld it up.  That's not good.

And the front lasted about 20 seconds longer.

Ok let's try that again.

so... with the following caveats upfront:

1) I appreciate your continued dedication to weight reduction.

1b)  I 100% in agreement with your lunch choice, even if my exprience is it tends to negate any benefits found in item "1)"

2) I realize how much trouble I get in, and I get you in, when I "ponder thoughts with my keyboard open".

wouldn't a death wheel, and a notch made in that rail, give you more surface area to run a bead on?

In reply to sleepyhead the buffalo :

Yes but we wouldn't get the height we want. We have plans.

We put it all back in and I tacked the rails together. Which the back promptly failed.   Of course that didn't happen because Lil Stampie wasn't smart enough to take pictures.

He laid a bead all around the front then we bolted it into the car without the seat to tack the rear. With more room that worked.

Here's some of his beads.
