Ok I found a reasonably nice 1987 Corvette convertible. Blue with white top, 5.7 tuned port engine, automatic ( problem with knees make this choice) . One owner. Clean underneath, straight body newer top. Digital dash needs work (typical for these) none functional antenna, tires and engine codes pointing to the MAF burn off system. I will post pics later.
Nice! Don't bum about the automagic. My understanding is the Doug Nash 4+3 manual transmission is not the most reliable gear switchy thingy ever made.

And the automatic is pretty well matched to the TPI's weird torque curve, too. If you have to use an automatic, a C4 is a pretty good example of one where the automatic version doesn't give up much to the manual.

I wasn't bummed about the automatic, just explaining why. When I did a TNiA with the Firebird I learned how to make it work.
Very solid color on that one. I think the C4 convertibles look pretty good with hard tops on them if you can manage to find one.

makes it look like the never-made C4 FRC.
and i agree, this color combo looks great on C4. I really like the lines of these cars with the top down.

For its intended purpose the top will not be up very often. Only when I get caught in out in the rain or it gets cold at night.
In reply to zordak :
I understand that. Top was up on my convertible Mustang as little as possible.

Looks like the MAF burn off codes could be a real problem. Some say a possible ECM swap. Fortunately I have a '89 5.7 ECM from the Firebird when I got the engine. I know the ECM works because I used to to run the 5.0 on the engine stand before installing it. Any way weather looks a little warmer this weekend (high in the teens right now looking for high 30's ) so we will see.

The tires on this were shot (very bad weather checking) when I got it. I just started to look for replacements and found 1 ultra high performance tire and several DOT approved race/autocross tires (255/50-16). Just started to look at going to 17s from newer C4s. I hope when spring comes around I can find a used set. The warm weather got used up on other projects. I can't get really motivated on this right now. The lack of interest in the Firebird means I might convince the wife to let me keep it.
Hope your wife is agreeable !
1990 is my all-time favorite Corvette wheel:
In reply to Just some guy :
1995 ZR1 wheels are my all time favorite Vette wheels. The ones you posted are gorgeous, and I would say come a close 2nd.
I'm going to go ahead and save that photo of the two tone gray car.
There's one in my garage that... does not look that good and sometimes I need a little motivation.

I did that EXACT same thing It is gorgeous.

There's a pretty crummy 1990 ZR-1 rotting away in a driveway near my home. Like parts car rough. But the wheels...those wide rears are so sexy. dude won't entertain an offer for the wheels OR the car. I've just been dropping in once and a while, waiting for my moment.
In reply to Just some guy :
I would just buy the wheels, clean them up, take a lawn chair, and stare them at them, with a cup of coffee. Ahh the simple pleasures in life.
In reply to mr2s2000elise :
i wouldn't even clean em.
I am OCD, I daily wipe down the wheels on any car I drive for the day. Can't stand dirty wheels. Like dirty shoes... yuck. (just my personal opinion)

Nice looking C4. Those are nice looking wheels. Unfortunately I will probably end up with what ever is available used when I have the money to get them.

Ok scored 4 17" wheels from a 96 collectors edition. Look like they were blasted and cheaply chromed and have tires on them. Now the bad, 1st 2 of the wheels are pitting badly from under the chrome. Next the nice looking tires from the ad are over 20 years old (3 digit date code) so I will still need tires. I'm not too disappointed I only paid $200 for them. So I'm thinking to sand down the rims and paint them with something close to the body color or go with a silver/gray like they were originally.
