Okay guys, I'm selling my 2004 RX-8 in anticipation of my move.  Asking $2500.  Ypsilanti, MI.  I'm giving you an unvarnished look at it.  PM me or hit up my gmail scardella at the aforementioned gmail dot com.

2004 Mazda RX-8
131,000 miles
6-speed manual
silver
Heated Leather seats

Good stuff:
Includes GReddy strut bar (not installed; stock bar is installed)
Includes 2nd set of OEM wheels and tires
Koni Yellows
Interior in good shape

Bad stuff:
Front end has cosmetic damage to bumper
Rust around the lower edges of the car
2nd gear doesn't like to be rushed
Sometimes you need to double check that reverse is correctly selected
Needs new tires
Check engine light is on (emissions related)
Sometimes the coolant light comes off and on (seems like a flaky sensor)
Taillights get water in them (common issue)

Sob story:
About a month or two ago, I let a friend who was in desperate need of a vehicle use it for a week for a new job.  He returned the car with the bumper damage, covered in dirt, with no job (couldn't keep it the whole week) and with a squeaking noise when it was in reverse.  Thankfully, the squeaking was the pad wear squeaker because he had driven the car around with the parking brake engaged.  I replaced the rear pads, but he's not really much of a friend anymore.  So, unfortunately, I haven't been able to fix the bumper.

I suppose I might be willing to let the car go for a certain $20xx price separately.  If that changes anything.

Hmm. Separately meaning what precisely? And what do you think the deal is with the bumper/front spoiler? I’m looking for a cheap and potentially disposable track car and that will definitely fail tech.

What’s the code for the CEL?

Sorry I didn't get back to you.  I ran the codes on Sunday:

P0420 - Catalyst efficiency

P0456 - Small evaporative emissions leak

The deal with the front bumper is that the friend bumped into the curb when he was parking it.  He's apparently used to pulling up until he feels the wheels bumping into the concrete parking curb.  It's just that when you do that with an RX-8, the results aren't pretty.
