It does seem to be looking a bit sad; but I am in need of a very cheap car to drive to work. Do you happen to know anything about this one?

Thanks.

Other than being able to smell the rust from the pictures, negative.

He has not responded, so probably a moot point for me. My old school tiny phone did not have enough resolution for me to smell the rust cheeky , but I could live with it, if I could drive it a bit and use parts for projects, later.
For anything I plan to do much maintenance on, rust is a bit of a deal breaker... at the moment, I just need cheap

if fenders need to be duct tapped in place, they'll hold for a bit!

Aw, it used to be Smurf blue until someone sprayed it black. That's the best 1.6 color sad

I never got a response about it. Do we have anyone on here that might could get ahold of him and put eyes on it for me?
Dont matter to me if it's chartreuse with baby poop green interior! Just if it would get me to work for a few months!

That roach is 1000 miles away, deep deep in the rust belt, showing obvious rot. Having lived here for decades and also having crawled under hundreds of oxide piles shaped like neat cars, I can assure you that there are not $1500 of trouble-free miles remaining in that thing.

And it's an automatic! That's another reason for the low price.

In reply to etifosi :

I know most folks on here think a beater has to be a fun toy, and feel 2500 is a super low entrance fee

As tight for cash as I am, I hope I did not imply I expected years of trouble free miles, for a cheap beater. For 2500, I would, but I couldn't buy it then crying As a beater, the type of transmission is also of little significance

It's much less than 1000 miles from me, but to far to go look at. I would not ask anyone to go 1000 miles to look at it, but I'm sure there is someone on here that's close by

probably a moot point, since I never got a reply, but if someone that is close to it, may have better luck. As rough as it is, it would also require negotiating; again probably a moot point

I messaged the seller for you and if he responds I will ask for more pics. But tell me....have you had a Tetanus shot recently and have you ever owned a car that wasn't solid enough to jack? Do you really want to?

I can't tell you how many times I've driven out into the sticks here in northeast PA hoping that everyone else closer was overlooking a diamond in the rough, then driven home empty handed and brokenhearted. Zoom in on the picture of that rear wheel well area again and think about what it must look like underneath the car and then wonder about why they didn't just slap a passenger side mirror and that front brake caliper it needs and Miata on?

Here in salt country a common tactic is to shoot spray foam into the rust holes then cover it with fiberglass mesh and paint until your local mechanic won't let you drive it for another year.

If this was a $1500 Miata in Alabama with a beat appearance, it would be a complete 'nother story. But it's not.

*Update edit:

Seller has a guy coming in the morning and he will lmk if it falls through.

I haven driven out into the sticks, north or south (I've lived in both) assuming everyone that passed on it were dumb. I also pass buy a ton of ads know it needs more than a caliper (or they'd have put one on it.
To be clear, I can't afford $1500, so even if it's not trash, he'd have to be negotiable. Might be why he didn't answer me. I'm familiar with the way some intentanalaly try to hide rust.... I assumed a GRM er that was near by, and willing to look at it, would be as well.
If I didn't agree with you, I could drive up to look myself.
But again, probably a moot point; since I asked that kind of questions, and he didn't respond (but did respond to you) I've a feeling that answers the questions.
Thanks.

Yeah, low priced Miatas are "have trailer/cash, when can I get it?" articles everywhere.

10 minutes on faceytalk and craigsrips and I found a dozen cars that no longer exist in NEPA that just have crappy paint or interior damage......no rust! Makes me think of setting up an Alabama-NEPA pipeline to get some of that sweet weird old iron action

I did see a Miata ad come up before this contract started; little worn looking M edition (looking into it - wrong year posted, by the color of it). But might be running (ad is unclear) - $800, posted on a 19 year olds profile. I messaged about 40 minutes after the post, that I was only 20 minutes away, and could drive over and check it out.
Zero response.
Waited a week; still available. Messaged again. This time got a response : "I'm just trying to find out what it's worth"

Uh, in a for sale ad, but you don't... Ahhhh, never mind.
And that's one of my better transactions.
Messaged about a crown Vic. "Runs and drives perfectly. Just needs to finish a few screws putting bumper cover and trim on. I'm just done working on it.
Oh, and it won't start after I put the fuse block back in after wreck  .

Cranks,  but doesn't start, if you know what I mean!"

Does anyone on FB communicate in English? Is it just me that cannot translate that?

unfortunatly, I think the translation is:  " I have a POS that I want to sell for a perfect running price, and I'm assuming you are desperate enough to fall for it. "

It can't be started and driven, but only needing 5 minutes to screw the peices on (he sad so, has to be true. A guy that contradicts himself in every sentence, would never lie to me) so it's not a non running car.
"I'm just done working on it" Right  but it only needs 5 more minutes  OK then

In reply to etifosi :

Look closer, before making a business plan. Maybe F B logarithms thinks I prefer ads from thugs that speak in slang and text speak, think they can pawn the title and then sell it (I lost the title, but you can just go get a new one) and the hole in the block means it's a great running car, worth top dollar , ' cause I's knows wat I got.
Less rust, but...

I assume in that 10 minutes, you didn't contact any of them.

You'll need to log in to post.
