So you want me to pay $1500 for a plug and a SBC?  I ain't all rich Jaguar fancy pants.

I'm the cheapest person and am always looking for bargains. I'm willing to trade my time and labor to make that viable for others who share our interests and ambitions.  If I make the mold a production mold many parts can be made from it and the costs associated with it can be shared.

That may not be something you're interested in.  In which case if you're interested I hope the car is usable for you as it is.

I'll have to look again.  But I think I have a serviceable frint clip from a Midget.  Sure it's not a bugeye but your likely to spend more then the car is for one of those.

It has the front end and I'm working on it, seems like perfect 2021 challenge car.. trying to get over to the seller tomorrow, if they'll respond a 2nd time, cause it's only 25 minutes away.

That was my thought, Midget stuff will go on easy enough still not cheap if serviceable.Hopefully the front is there just not shown.

I wonder what the rear end is...  If its factory, thats going to break pretty quickly, the axle design is not very stout.

There arent many axle options that are that narrow, so you would likely have to narrow something else.

Also, the grey dash sitting in the car is from a big healey, not a sprite.

In the photos it had a 5 lug wire wheel on the rear and 4 lug steel wheel on the front. Rear looked a little wider than stock, so I'll assume there's bigger rear end under it.

Yep. You're right. It's home and in my friend's garage. Definitely upgraded rear axle, and wildly stacked leaf springs I didn't get a good picture of. I didn't have time to do a whole lot digging in today, but it is definitely rusty (and  bonnet is covered in bondo??). The headlights have been removed and some kind of panel stuck in their place, and mesh cutouts in the hood to help with cooling (I assume). This will definitely be a big undertaking for me, but I'm really excited.

it's small!

My Grandpa had a Bugeye in the early 60s and always raved about. One came up for sale when I was in college that was nearly mint for only $6k. I went and test drove it and it was fantastic. My Grandpa wasn't limber enough to get in/out by that point. Still wish I had bought that car.

Looks like you have a fun project there. Looking forward to seeing where you take it!

I love everything about it as it is (visually), haha.

I don't know what rear end is in it. Aside from putting together some cribbing to lift it onto I probably won't do much to it for the next 2 months or so. Here's some pics of the rougher areas.. it also is wearing a 15" tire on front left, 13" on right. I do have the spare 13.

and the seeming bondo (??) On the hood

Filler panels for the eyes are brazed in. That bonnet is too rough to restore when you can get a fiberglass reproduction in several different styles including stock if you need headlamps. If competition only you can make it really pretty without lamps, see photo below.

I never thought it would happen but you now make me want to have a nonbugeye bugeye.  That is a nice look.

In reply to Stampie (FS) :

Fun fact: initially the headlights were supposed to pop up (think porsche 928) but they went away from that to reduce cost. So it would have had that cleaner look had it gotten them.

Bugeye bonnets are pricey. Go fiberglass if you can. Most metal ones are over $1k if salvageable.

If you need pics off a Bugeye to make sense of anything let me know, I have one and a lift I can put it on for pics. I also might have a few spare parts I could part with.
