NMNA- get out the power washer.
On the plus side, this car runs great. It has a rebuilt V4 engine with slightly lumpy cam, Weber DGV progressive carb with double barrel manifold, rebuilt gearbox, suspension A arms strengthened per factory spec, recored radiator, modern alternator, performance exhaust, etc. This is why the price is as high as it is - it's worth more than the asking price just for the drive train.
On the minus side, this poor car had a Rustoleum paint job applied by the previous owner. Fortunately it doesn't stick as well as the original paint, so I've taken most of it off with citrus-based paint remover, which doesn't take the factory paint off. The previous owner didn't take good care of it so it's got the usual rust spots - the base of the pillars, bottoms of the doors, and driver's side floor. It hasn't gotten to the tragic point yet, though, so it's just some time with a MIG welder to fix. The good part about the state of the body is that you don't have to worry about denting it since pretty much everything is already dented.
I personally drove this car from Seattle to Boston about 15 years ago, it's always been dead reliable and gets ~30mpg at 80mph on the highway. Currently titled in MA.
that'll be gone in a day.

Lumpy cam in a Taunus V4 probably sounds pretty interesting.
I love it and would drive it as is. Just stabilize the floor board rust.
Only if I can keep the custom tag.
Honestly, I'm glad this isn't close or I'd be in trouble.

Oops, sorry.
I mean, sometimes you really have to talk yourself out of something (do it).
My garage has 3 cars and a truck plus all the supporting junk in it, no room.
My friend (who doesn't talk to his sister) promised to talk to her over the holidays to ask her intentions on the 911 in my garage. Either way it goes, there's a project on my horizon.
Damn, if'n I lived closer to the lakes, I'd buy that thing, pop some floors in it, leave the rest as it is, park it outside and take it ice racing.
You know... if I lived somewhere like Saratoga Springs.
Done it. Bitch is, lakes all seem to be at the bottom of a valley, getting back out in the dark while tire and possibly broken takes the fun out of it.
No lakes in Connecticut? C'mon.
How's the parts support for these? Poking around it looks like replacement floor sheet metal is available, at least.

A few lakes, but very little ice.
Most anything I ever needed for the 96 I had could be found at NAPA, no special order nonsense. If you poke around for a Saab forum, there are bigger hard core crazies out there than us. (hard to believe, eh?).
As much as I'd like to drag a 96 through the Berkshires in winter, and I hate to miss out, but the 911 may be worth waiting for. With no paperwork the sister may be amiable to selling. But I know people .....
These things will do 80mph?? Impressive.
