FM is selling one of our long-time development cars. We picked this thing up new in 1995 and have been using it to develop parts - and daily drive - ever since. Well, it's time to make room in the fleet for some new R&D toys and we have lots of NAs, so it's moving on.

Will be interesting to see where this one ends. I'm guessing between $12k - $15k.

Wow. I hope you're wrong, because I'd be buying it at that price!
I'm hoping you're guessing low. That engine alone would cost $15k to build, never mind the turbo bolted to the side of it :) I know you never get your money back on mods but between the provenance of this car, the condition of the body and interior and the performance I expect it will go higher. Note that every Miata that has sold for more than $40k on BaT has been one that we built. I don't think this will be one of those, though.
...and there's a $12k bid already an hour in. Someone wants this car.

If you don't bid, you won't win :D
I was thinking $22k but that's probably low. Possibly as high as $30k
Well, it appears the average price of a used car is now $30K. I'd hope this could hit (or beat) that.

If I bid and win, you won't like it! :D
Who wants one? I do................oh wait, I have 7 more semesters of college to pay for.
Who is going to wait until 2025? Me!

Well it's currently at $15,000 with almost a week left...I'm gonna guess $35,000
The bids definitely escalated more quickly than I expected! I'm okay with that. It's a good car and impossible to duplicate - the stroker kits are no longer available along with some of the supporting modifications. Being a one-owner car, we also know it doesn't have any secrets in its history.
We've actually been planning to sell it for a while. But, us being who we are, we had to make sure it was in top shape first so it had to wait for a few small things to be addressed. Travis even convinced us to give it a $500 detailing job.

I would have made the $15K offer, but I knew it was worth significantly more than that.
It should be $25K plus
It will be interesting to see where it ends up. I hadn't actually driven it for a couple of years before I did the video for the listing, so I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. You know how it is when you spend a long time with a car, you start seeing only the problems and the dust.
That's a fricken cool Miata.
$25k sounds low.

You may be right, but that's why I didn't bid. I can't afford that car.

If I knew I could get it registered in California, I might put in a bid.
Its a pretty complete package outside of the engine bay too.
I'm guessing 30k+. Good luck!

Like tesla swaping an NB?
It's unlikely we'd use an NB for that project instead of an ND :)
I'm going to take that as confirmation that the idea has been spitballed around FM. Noice.
More than that, I've posted some of the math in this forum :) I think we could do a 200 mile range ND with a few hundred hp that weighs roughly 2800 lbs.
Six hours left on this one, folks. We're at $23,333. Who wants to guess where it ends up? I think Price Is Right rules apply to any estimates - if you go over, you lose.
If I was being a smartass, I'd tell you to enter your guesses into the BaT bid box. Good thing I'm not a smartass.
I'll put in $32k, but hope it goes for more.
