This isn’t an original Citroën DS Le Caddy, but instead a continuation model known as Series 2. It was built by German DS experts DS Manufaktur, the only Citroën restoration firm operating under license from the family of Henri Chapron–the original designer of the DS convertible.

DS Manufaktur has built just two of the Series 2 models, and this was the first. They have a contract to build five in total.

The restoration firm used Henri Chapron’s original plans and incorporated a few “subtle modern enhancements.” The Series 2 cars get a body number, authorized badging and a certificate of authenticity.

Find this 1968 Citroën DS Le Caddy Henri Chapron Series 2 by DS Manufaktur up for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of $225,000-$275,000.

I know these Citroen's are amazing cars and well built.  I never owned one and they probably grow on you but their absence of rear wheel well arches just doesn't do anything for me.  The lines of the car are great.  I also know the long wheelbase is part of the engineering but I need to like the look of what I am driving and these just don't do it for me.  I guess I just don't have the French instinct.   I'm Italian...........
