Discussion today made me think of this. A Lancia had its alternator fail after a degreasing and power wash and a friend said the same happened 3 times to his Subaru until he made the connection to leave it dirty. Do you think this is more common?

I think the key here is "power wash". Water under pressure into electric's can't be good. The degreaser probably didn't help either. solvents forced into electrics under pressure. I've done standard washing with a garden hose and never had an alternator fail.
