The seller apparently has a great sense of humor or is a clever marketeer.

(Or maybe not. It is Palm Springs after all, which is loonier than LA-LA land).

Would it actually work?

No. It would probably start a fire when the dashpots filled with gas and proceeded to leak it all over the exhaust manifold.

The needles and jets would probably function OK but trying to set the floats would present a bit of a challenge.

All kidding aside, it’s not a bad deal for $2K if you live near P.S. and could pick it up yourself. Even if you had to repair or replace the entire suspension and drivetrain, the practically rust-free sheet metal is a major plus.

I belive WWII fighters and non FI acrobatic aircraft have a similar set up, Its for pulling negitive Gs! The FI on the NAZI planes gave them a big advantage since there was never a disruption in fuel flow to the engine.
