Automatic, 4WD, replaced filters cause we thought a restriction might be causing it. No dice.
Doesn't stall all the time, but often enough to make your butt pucker. Pop it into neutral and hit the key, she starts right away.
Any thoughts?
Edit: will also stall if you are giving it gas as it comes to a stop

If not that, converter clutch is stuck on.
I had similar symptoms on my 7.3 Excursion and it was an ICP sensor. Found it with a scan.

With the trans in neutral?
At this point I would expect all of the 7.3s to have the upgraded CPS but they're relatively cheap and easy to change so they're a good guess for the parts cannon.
Check the oil level before you buy anything. A low level can cause stalling with those. If neither of those thing fix it get ahold of a scanner that can read the Ford enhanced data. There's almost certainly a clue stored in one if the modules.
Cam position sensor first. If that doesn't fix it, check two things: 1) Ignition switch... the actual electrical part, not the key part. They have multiple contacts in them and depending on which pin loses juice, it kinda acts like a bad ground. It can cause all kinds of weirdness. 2) Fuel filter housing. They like to get a little corroded pinhole in them and it usually just causes a wee leak, but when you slow down and the fuel pressure reduces, it can let little air bubbles in.
