In my shop is a long block from a 4.2 six out of a 98 F-150.
Does anybody have a link to a Ford 3.8/4.2 buildup with dyno numbers? I want to see what a larger cam (lift AND duration) and free-flowing exhaust do with these.
Is the long stroke a factor when looking at RPM range? The motor is still slightly oversquare, but I don't know the limits of the stock rods.
Bascally, I needs to know where to put my money.
(If anyone has a way to mate superchargers and split port heads, I'm all ears . . .)
Hrm, there's some guys in the V6 section of ModdedMustangs.com's forums that might be able to answer that question... I know the 4.2 is a popular swap over there.
Didn't Kenne Bell do some work with 4.2s, as well? I know it's hard to research his V6 work anymore considering the popularity of the superchargers, though.
JMO, turd polishing. Look at TCCOA for ideas. Biggest problem is the one water passage is too close to the cylinder which then leads to head gaskets leaking and warped heads.

Check sccoa.com for info on the 3.8/4.2 family. I've got a 4.3 stroker in my Supercoupe and it makes 350/419 to the wheels (needs more blower). If you want to see specs, visit my reader's rides page. We have a few guys playing with turbos on the SC now, and even a 3.8 has put down over 600 to the wheels. These engines can make insane torque for not a lot of money. Get SC heads, since they're better than other Essex V6 castings.
