found a deal on a justy, 5spd 4x4. Thinking about using it for a daily / rallycrosser. Any thoughts? Never played with them before.

Lots of fun. Extremely flimsy shell.

Might want to consider dedicating it to EITHER daily or rallycrossing.

Rallycross is ridiculous amounts of fun no matter what car you end up using.

My only thought is that you might want to check on your local rulebook/class structure if you think you are likely to get realy competitive about the sport. YMMV, but cars are often classed by driveline and amount of mods. Whether bone-stock or modded, smallbore (tinybore?) normal-aspiration generally won't have a chance in hell in the AWD classes up against Subies/Lancers and the like.

Tons of us have lots of fun running what we brung at rallycross, classes and competition be damned, so it is just about impossible to go wrong, but if you want a fairly affordable and economical DD hatchback which can also be competitive at rallycross, the 2WD clases are your best bet, with a Rabbit/Golf, 323, Corolla, Festiva, Swift/Metro, or anything along those lines...basically pick the first one to come along and have some fun!

Well heck, if you're talkin 2wd, don't rule out the Justy! Lots of laughs!

I've got a 2wd Justy for sale.

Parts are nearly impossible to find for the Justy. Caveat emptor.

Because it is a POS, probably one of the worst cars that Subaru put their name on.

Think of a typical Daihatsu (remember the Charade?) with the complexity of 4WD tossed into the mix, making it both unreliable and dangerous at the limit (they tend to roll over fairly easily) The CVT's weren't very robust and neither were the electronic carbs.
