WESTSIDE frightens me, in a good way. Viva El Presidente!

Uh oh! You forgot to book the el presidente suite, BTW. We left it for you.
does anyone camp at the challenge? or on the flipside, is anyone looking for a roommate to split the hotel costs with?
I'm in the process of purty'in up my car and making it a little lighter. I posted some shots on my build diary.
Hey Wheels, er V8 Kid, I mean Cam... I thought you said your car had IRS a while back. Did you do that while using the Nova subframe or is this a different car?

The IRS was in the Datsun we were going to bring. We changed projects. It's in the build diary. And, Cameron has made the site noted below.

It is pretty lonely over at the track you could probably stay there but
all the shenanniggans are at the motel some 8 or so miles away . There are plenty of stair wells at the motel and lobby or sleep out by the pool on one of the chairs . Watching that clock I am sending my entry in todays mail , due to the economy we are going to run just one car . I am sorta glad we get next year off as I will be at the Petit Le mans in Atlanta . I might still have to goto the Petit for thursday this year and hammer back overnight for Fridays start of the festivities .
old engine came out sunday..
gasket kit for new engine purchased today.
front suspension being finished tonight.
booked the hotel room today as well.
Since getting the Ghia inspected we have logged about 500 miles (in the last 2 weeks) including an 80 mile round trip to work last Friday. Aaron has done an awesome job putting together some very cool vintage speed parts that work well together. Because of this the car is an absolute blast to drive. It has enough power to be safe on the interstate, handles very well, and is just plain cool to hear rolling down the street. The Supercharger sounds a lot like a jet engine spooling up. The look on peoples faces as they realize that the sound is coming from "that ratty thing" is fabulous!
We went to a local paint shop over the weekend and had some paint mixed up to match the factory paint. Yesterday Aaron touched up some of the rough areas so the car is mostly one color again. We really don’t want to put to much work into the body because after the Challenge we are going to do all of the rust repair and body work.

It has been 2 months to the day, we started 6/29 and today is 8/29, and the Bug moved under it's own power at 8:33pm. The punch list is down to 22 items, 9 to go to the trck to test. 33 days to go and we are feeling the strain.
Congratulations Nelson Family!! Aaron and I know you still have a ton to do, but you folks can pull it off!!
That had to be a great feeling!!
Looking forward to seeing the progress sometime over the weekend.
Starting tomorrow Aaron and I wil be working on installing adjusters in his front beam so we can lower the nose a bit.

Awesome news. Hey Andy, lemme know when/where you go to T-n-T, i'd love to go w/ the GLH to make some more shakedown passes and to see that contraption of yours in action....
i scored some small but important parts at the junkyard last week, and so far this weekend have made good progress on the challenge V8 944. I've also figured out the household finances and will definitely be there.
wiring for lights is about 75% done, but won't be 100% until my $22 eBay switch panel arrives. tonight i'll finish the battery cables and the starter wiring, and tomorrow i'll work on mounting and wiring the relays for the headlights, horns, and cooling fan. i borrowed a nice portable soldering station and a huge crimping tool from work, so the harness will be pretty robust when complete.
i've got a friend who builds torque converters, so he's a brilliant welder and has a huge lathe. he's modifying my original rims to make a sleeper set of drag rims. two will be parted about 1" from inboard lip, two will be parted about 3" from inboard lip, then the inboard parts will be swapped. result: four 7" wide rims become two 5" and two 9", but in the side view everything looks stock. i hope he's able to finish them in time!
i'm also shortening the stock shifter and replacing the pin where the shift tube meets the lever, as it's severely worn and contributing to a very vague shifting experience. these changes should make the gates a little easier to find.
after that, it's just detail crap.
Mental: just got your entry...need to email Tim Baxter the entry list so far so he can update things. I'm not into slot cars...the rally car is my addiction
I'm working the menu...trophies are in the works and T-shirts are ordered.
Judges are lined up and expert drivers are being gathered
Hey, even Kim and Stig are coming to the event.

so will number of diaper changes you perform significantly increase challenge score?
Cam777, I'm lovin the website. Keep up the good work guys.
Glad to see Stig will be there. If there an award for never missing a GRM Challenge in your lifetime, he's off to a good start.
Thankyou, a lot of people are watching the site. Yesterday, Saturday, we did not do anything on the bug. We had house work to do. (Reroute plumbing and electric lines, modify a kitchen wall, etc.) We were pretty busy.
31 days to go!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
Don't worry Cameron, you guys are making great progress.
Silly question, though, when you say 'website' you're just talking about your profile, correct? Or do you have another site with updates?
