On my twin Weber IDFs I added a return line. It greatly helped idle stability but now my fuel pressure gauge reads zero. I know the fuel is flowing because the car runs. The fuel pressure gauge is inline with the return--is that the problem? Should it now be before the carbs? Before, the system was deadheaded and the gauge read correctly at 3-4 psi.

Gracias JP

Put it on the supply side.

The gauge has to be in the line before the carbs or injectors in an EFI system. There should not be any readable pressure in a return line.

It doesn't need to be before the injectors, it just needs to be before the regulator in a return system.

If you are sending fuel to the carb, and bleeding off the return from the same fitting, you will have no pressure. The only fuel getting into the float bowl will be from gravity. The return line should only have a small hole to allow a bit of fuel to transfer back, not the full volume.

I feel like I should be explaining this better...

EDIT:

Just finished reading the original properly. Yes, the return line should have no pressure. Gauge goes in the pressure line.
