I saw that video the other day. I honestly had no idea this series existed, and it happened when I was a pretty big Indycar fan. It must not have had much, if any coverage in the American media.
As late as the late 1990's the CART chasssis' were still being sold off after newer models were introduced. They were being powered by SBC's and there was a series of some sort for the cars to compete. I think the last one I saw go out the door was sold for ~50k, a roller without an engine, but a gearbox was included.
