I recently ordered a new window net for our Champcar off of Amazon. It was a Racequip window net "Sold By: Racequip." Description said that it included an SFI tag as well. That was not the case and I had to return in. Luckily Amazon is easy going about those things and it appears that the description for that piece of equipment has changed to reflect what it actually is. I'm also happy that I actually planned ahead for once in trying to square away things for this car and have time to get a new legit one and I'll be utilizing Wine Country or Saferacer instead.

Yep, safety gear is one of the few things I won't buy on Amazon. Every issue of GRM has a bunch of great safety companies if you're looking for one.wink

Your thread title could be shortened to "Beware of what you buy on Amazon".

Either way, price tag appeal of Amazon has worn off for me.   3-4 years ago I bought EVERYTHING from Amazon.  Now I try and search out better options rather than 20 of the same made in China BS.  Summit or Speedway is where I get most of my stuff from, Rockauto for stock parts.

I bought sfi belts on ebay july 2019 and all sfi stuff is supposed to be good 2 years from purchase.  I regularly get belts at summit that are tagged more like 28 months out.  The ebay belts said expire june 2020 so berkeley me

1. I don't bother with Amazon.  Bezos has enough money that he doesn't need mine.  I found early on on Amazon that most folks selling car parts don't have a clue what they have.

2. For belts and other safety equipment, skip SFI and buy FIA stuff.  SFI is in business to make money.  FIA actually sets standards and tests equipment, and the FIA belts are good for 5 years.  The English Pound is taking such a beating from Brexit you can buy it there and have it shipped here for less than you can buy it here.

I still like the name brand scattershield that had a post dated SFI sticker.  The date of manufacture was over a year AFTER it had been shipped.

That sure was some expedited shipping!
