So here is the car we rescued this weekend.

It's even more outrageous than you think. It has the 200SX transmission and a L16SSS JDM engine. Its a 1968 car.
You also don't want to know the guy let that car plus a 71 510 go for $500.

Keith's close, the plate is TENRSAX - played another rock gig last night, then a concert band concert today. Time to do something else for a few days, my arthritis is speaking to me. That brisket looks outstanding!
Autocross yesterday. I tow the club trailer so I'm there early and setting up. My son is in town on leave and came along for a co-drive in the Zoomboni, which is also driven in another class by a couple of young men who think it's a hilarious thing to operate. This means a pile of semi antique spare parts got quad driven in one day on Avon A11 tires in 90 degree heat. And it was fine. I managed 4th place raw (by just 2 tenths) of 67 drivers.
The semi interesting thing was that we did a number of "fun runs" at the end of the day and I hopped in a Tesla Model 3. First time behind the wheel and I made a couple of mistakes that cost me time. But was still very nearly as fast as my best and 1/2 a second faster than the cars' owner. Given a couple of familiarity runs I have had no doubt I'd get FTD raw and PAX. The acceleration out of corners was just next level. Now I want a Tesla dammit.
I had a pretty stellar day of autocrossing. Second on raw time (the Focus RS in the picture beat me), eighth on PAX, first in class. The Track Dog Racing supercharger, Xida coilovers and Nankang tires makes for a helluva combo.

I'm on the CR-1, the 200tw tire. But I love them so far. I've done 4 autocrosses, all in 90+ degree heat. Tremendous grip, they don't really get greasy unless you start hot-lapping it. Nice road manners, not as loud or as prone to tramlining as the BFG Rivals. Can't speak for their rain performance. Just a very fun tire to drive on as well.
Also auto-x yesterday, pretty fun.
Timed runs were first part of the day, so temps in the low 90s, my fun runs were done last session of the day, temps about 100 degrees.
The tires felt a little gummy/geasier than usual, not quite as much grip. First time I think I was ever ok with 3 runs instead of our usual 4.
Hope July event is a little bit cooler.
Took the MINI to a classic British car show this past weekend. Lots of fun, though it was a tad bit warm out.
lots of MGBs and TR3/4/6 examples. My faves were this MGTD and Aston DB4:
I went and did my first NASA Time Trial event in the M3. Lots of track days in this car, but this was the first time actually getting officially timed!
